TV Party Tonight!: NXT Takeover: New York (Part 2 – Results and Reaction)

So, how are you enjoying Wrestlemania weekend so far? For my part, this Takeover delivered in terms of offering decent matches, but left me scratching my head in terms of where NXT goes next from here.

TV Party Tonight!: NXT Takeover: New York (Part 1 – Predictions and Expectation)

Wrestlemania weekend is here and I’ve got Monday off work! that means I’m going to be giving the TV Party Tonight! treatment to both Wrestlemania and Takeover: New York, as well as maybe doing some capsule reviews of whichever indie shows I catch.

For today’s preview, it’s time for a look at what’s in store for us in Takeover: New York. This is notable as an event whose top match was, it’s pretty clear, supposed to be the final Ciampa vs. Gargano conflict for the NXT title – only for Ciampa’s surgery to put paid to that (and it’s sounding like Ciampa isn’t 100% sure he’ll be able to come back from this one). TV Party Tonight!: NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool (Part 1 – Predictions and Expectation)

I was intending to go to the Pro Wrestling:EVE show tonight, but I’ve got a cold and stuffing myself into the Resistance Gallery will just spread it to most of the crowd, which isn’t cool. Luckily, WWE are serving up a nice little something – the first TakeOver for the NXT UK brand, finally bringing TV audiences back in sync with what live audiences saw at the tapings late last year.

In effect, it’s the end of what you could think of as the “pilot season” of the show, with the weird delay in premiering the show on the Network necessitating a bunch of double-episode releases for the last few weeks. Hopefully, this show will herald a new approach which will avoid such awkwardness.
